Big Yin is thrilled to present ‘I Want More’ by Lily Gutierrez and Tiger Hutchence-Geldof.

With Big Yin as their playground, Lily and Tiger have embarked on an odyssey of self-discovery, truth, ownership and a subversion of societal expectations that often keep people small. Through photos, paintings, stories and more they dream and demand new realities.

Lily is a multi-faceted artist whose work draws deeply on her personal experiences. Her work is autobiographical but rather than glossing over pain, she examines it, exhumes it, breathes life, light and humour into what was hiding.

Lily’s work is like the modern day version of the confessional booth, but rather than condemning the sinner to repent and live in shame, she raises them up and throws them a parade without judgement.

Tiger is a musician and art psychotherapist, her work combines the investigation of maternal nature and roles with her own strength and playfulness. Tiger’s pastel works and paintings are meditative investigations, grounded in understanding. Her lines vibrate with sweetness and wisdom. Her photos are purely an invitation to play.

Deciding to create this exhibition together has been an antidote to taking on roles of responsibility; mother, therapist, woman, carer, and has instead been about freedom, pleasure and friendship.

Both artists use their life as their dominant source of material, acting as an engine, sail and life jacket for the vessel that is their art. It is a practice of catharsis. It’s saying what society tells us to stay silent about, it’s finding relief through letting stories and art live, letting them go and purifying oneself in the process.

This show presents the tree of friendship between two people that truly believe in each other. Friends who feel too much and still want more, endlessly looking for new ways to play up.
